Anurag Kashyap, Sudhir Mishra, Swanand Kirkire, Sanjay Chauhan in JNU Campus: Photos and Info
23 June, 2012, about 10: 20 pm, venue : Sabarmati Hostel mess.
Update: See this TOI news with details of the discussion.
Mishra too jumped into this vaad-vivaad. While talking about the behind-the-scenes story of his movie “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi” (2003) he said, “The movie was getting delayed month by month, and it was released after a wait of one and half years. Aur usmein bhi aap log kahan bhadbhada ke dekhne gaye thay? Sab log bolte hain “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi” jaisi picture kyun nahi banti. Aur jab koi banata hai, toh aap log dekhne kyun nahi jaate?”
Update: 26 June- See this Hindi post by someone who was there all the time; critical observation.
Anurag Kashyap came to the campus with Sudhir Mishra, Swanand Kirkire and few others (including journalists). The crowd was below par (thanks to no poster-publicity by organizers) and thanks to the bad management (lack of mic meant that voices were barely audible even when coolers and fans were switched off!), more than half of those who had come left within the first few minutes! I myself left after the first ten minutes. This was unusual for JNU: you can expect a decent crowd when such hatke filmmakers visit the campus.
The talk started (after a quick intro)with a Q and A and thanks to lack of ‘warm-up’, there was no enthusiastic response. Then somebody suggested reversing the alignment of crowd and guests (for acoustics) as a result of which the guests sat in a semi circle surrounded by students. Most people had left in the first 15 minutes only and barely 60 people remained in the hall (same capacity at 11.30 pm when I passed by again). Somebody took out TOI Crest and flashed a story ‘Pangs of Wasseypur’ and initiated the discussion. I left the place at this point.
Anurag was wearing a white Tshirt with the characters Thomson and Thomson (detectives in Tintin) and looked boyish. He looks younger than how we find him in images in the media. He wore a light brown Khakhi type trouser and white-grey sports shoes (Adidas?). He was not wearing the thick frame he is found in (which made him looks more positive in my opinion) though he had it with him. He was smoking a cigarette as he entered the venue with the retinue.
I have seen Gangs of Wasseypur (first day, first show in PVR Priya 1335 hours: liked it and recommend it but it is also fuzzy) and wanted to stay but I had a tight schedule and had to leave.
See the 13 photographs ( I am lazy and make no special efforts to get good photos, so pics are poor ; pics taken with my Samsung phone)—

The following pics of a time when he is at Dhaba and when he enters the premise (smoking), about 10: 15 pm:

If you search this blog, you will find other bollywood personalities and their dates with JNU.
