Posted in JNU by Vik on August 2, 2012

New faculty quarters being constructed in Paschimabad in jnu campus (by the Ambience mall, Vasant Kunj): the look and feel very un-jnu but okay. Pics dated 28 July 2012, shot from my phone cam. Click on the image to embiggen.  Some call it the towers (Paschimbad towers?).

Students and Wardens: 25 Photos of Litti-Chokha Picnic in Sabarmati Hostel in JNU

Posted in JNU by Vik on January 27, 2010

On the eve of the Republic Day yesterday when the hostel mess was closed, many students and all wardens of Sabarmati hostel in JNU campus planned and successfully executed a Litti-Chokha picnic in the hostel. The students and wardens (about 50 people) with the help of two staff made hundreds of Littis and enjoyed a nice evening in the hostel. This was a unique event in the JNU Campus. Please visit my primary blog and the sidebar for a lot of JNU stories, blogs, pics and images.

These are photos of the event mostly in the order that they happened. This photos will also illustrate how to make Litti Chokha. You can join the Litti Chokha Facebook group or the Litti Chokha group on Orkut if you are a Litti Chokha fan. Looking forward to the next hostel picnic! 🙂 Click on the share link in the right sidebar to share/mail this post with your friends.

Warden with students (Vinay, Aniruddha, Manish Anand, Akram, Himanshu and another person) at about 6. 27 PM at the venue (near the hostel gym).

Saraswati Puja Photos from JNU campus

Posted in JNU by Vik on January 22, 2010

JNU campus students celebrate Saraswati Puja, Durga Puja and some other festivals. The following photos are of the Saraswati Puja celebrations (murthi) at JNU KC OAT and one photo of the puja at Teflas.

Saraswati Puja is organized at two places in the campus: one is by students comprising mostly Bengali students as organisers (though anyone is welcome to join) and the other is by Oriya students (Odisha Sanskrutika Parishad) in the Teflas student activity centre in JNU Campus. The venue for the first Puja this year was KC OAT unlike the previous occasions when it happened between the Kaveri and Periyar hostels.

I was there at about 11 am (20 January 2009) and stayed there for some 35 minutes and left before the puja began. I am putting them in the order that I shot them. Photos are not digitally enhanced thanks to lack of time (and my amateur skills). See JNU Durga Puja here and visit all my JNU related blogs and posts.
